Press Release Body: While traveling in Panama recently, Bernard Rothermund and Ken Engle, developers of Volcan Springs Ranch Estates, a gated community of homes and condos, were on a search for exotic flowers and plants. They wanted to add to the already verdant landscape of their gated community, which is located near the town of Volcan in the cool highlands of Chiriqui, Western Panama.
They drove up to visit some local nurseries in the sleepy little community of Cerro Punta which is situated on the border of a huge cloud forest and just a few minutes drive from Volcan. Cerro Punta in located on the opposite side of Panama\'s highest mountain, Volcan Baru from Boquete, a town that has seen an explosion in tourism and foreign real estate ownership in the last few years.
Rothermund said, "I was overwhelmed by the beauty and variety of plants that were available."
Nearby, one of the highlights of the area is the Dracula Orchid Farm, named after the rare Dracula Orchid. This orchid farm raises and breeds over 2500 varieties of exotic orchids. Many of these orchids are also found growing wild in the trees around this area. The Dracula Orchid farm is hidden off of the main road and has spectacular plants and giant trees. "It was like walking through Jurassic Park" Engle said.
"I believe that the addition of some of these beautiful plants will make the community even more attractive to the nature lovers who will live at Volcan Springs Ranch Estates" said Rothermund. Some of the plants will be used to compliment the spectacular waterfalls at Volcan Springs Ranch. "Many visitors to Volcan Springs Ranch have been enchanted by these magnificent volcanic waterfalls that are located along walking paths in the common areas" Engle added.
"Some of the plants purchased from the Dracula Orchid Farm and other nurseries will be also used to landscape the new club house located next the 1 1/2 acre lake on the premises" says Bernard. The club house will have amenities including; pool, therapeutic spa, gym, massage rooms, pool table, coffee & wine bar, conference room, internet café, as well as a magnificent stone fireplace with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding countryside. There also will be an equestrian center for those who wish to keep horses. Many riding and hiking trails are located throughout the property.
